Ill make this simple so noone wastes their time. If you like 1 player games and have no internet or friends, this game is great. Colorful, smooth graphics, great characters and a well written plot. If you are like everyone else in the world that does have internet and was waiting to play the campaign online with 3 other friends or split screen the campaign with your buddy or little brother, youve been duped! Cause it isnt there! No co-op online or splitscreen campaign mode makes this the worste and laziest move ever. Its even deceiving cause the box says its 2-4 players online, but thats not for campaign. Its for these horrible game modes they make you play thrown into 1 area to defend artifacts or trap ghosts. Aweful. I traded in left for dead which you can play online with people. Big mistake! Dont give Atari anymore money. They have no finger on the pulse of what the majority is asking for. I want my 60 dollars back. A shame since the campaign is fun. But if you want a good 1 player game, go back into your old dresser and pull out oblivion.

Rent it if you must, but don’t buy it! After about an hour of game play I was done. No interaction, terrible graphics for the PS3, and pretty repetitive. Such a disappointment! I had been looking so forward to this game!
“Who you gonna call?”. . . Definitely not ATARI!

The original cast is back…which is awesome. But that’s where the greatness ends. I was having fun with it for about an hour, then it just became frustrating. The gameplay is basic and repetitive. The camera’s are horrible. The writing is really bad (sorry dan ankroyd).
I had high hopes for this game, and I almost bought it. Thankfully I decided to rent it first. In my opinion, they dropped the ball on this one, and it’s really too bad. I felt there were enough years between the last movie and the game that it wouldn’t fall victim to the game-made-for-a-movie syndrome, but I guess I was wrong.

I’ve read a lot of reviews of Ghostbusters: The Video Game online, including the four posted here on Amazon so far, and they all seem to have one thing in common: they’re really about the movie series, not the game and gameplay.
Like everyone else, I loved the first Ghostbusters movie, and I thought the second was fine but forgettable. Most reviews seem to say, “it’s nowhere near as bad as most game adaptations of movies, and the movies are good, therefore the game is great.” But this game has to be reviewed on its own merits, not those of the movie series, and it just doesn’t hold up.
Gameplay is repetitive, extremely linear, and often frustrating (I’m playing on the easy level, and I still find it difficult but without any corresponding sense of accomplishment when I succeed. It’s hard but not challenging, if you know what I mean.) Graphics are fair, character animations are poor, and dialogue is insipid at best. While Ackroyd and Ramis are touted to have written the script, they’ve either lost their touch, or didn’t really have much to do with it. (Given that video game scripts are very different creatures than movie scripts, I’m guessing the latter.)
Voice characterizations are fine, with the exception of Murray, who may quite literally have phoned in his contributions. Unfortunately, however, they’re often featured in the context of long, unskippable cutscenes, a particular pet peeve of mine in any video game. The overall effect is like watching two ten year-olds creating a Ghostbusters sketch with action figures, except you can’t tell them to hurry up or shut up.
I’ve been playing for several hours, and it’s looking increasingly unlikely that I’ll be making it to the end.
Summary: yes, the movies are good, but the game isn’t.

Understand I am a child of the 80’s and a HUGE fan of Ghostbusters, but, the game was a disappointing 7 hour game. You spend your time watching very awesome cut scenes but when it comes to game play I was disappointed with the lack of interaction. You can not pick anything up or control your character other than to move them around. When you knock over a vase the flowers stay in it. You will blow tables and bookshelves up only to still have tableware not disturbed and shelves lingering in space. This happens a lot. You cannot open and go into any rooms or take your own path unless one of the Ghostbusters is with you and then after a huge lag he says lets go…wait for it…waaaait, he opens the door not to get out of your way then you fight your way past him to move the game along. Yes all of your favorite monsters are there; pop the movie in for a better show. There are no secret treasures or interactions with anything other than the drinking fountain and the whole game is cut scene, new location kill monsters cut scene. The stiff movement of 3rd person gets old quick but the character rendering was awesome. This game was put out fast without utilizing a quarter of the PS3 potential. I believe it was put out to gage if there is enough interest to go ahead with another Ghostbusters movie. You know today a gamer wants more than to be dropped into a fight; we want to explore and interact with our environment. A movie game is no excuse, look at butcher bay. Did I mention I’m a woman that loved the Ghostbusters back when? Rent it, don’t buy it
